Renewable Energy Certificate
Management
Manage your certificate obligations independent of your
retail energy agreement for maximum cost efficiencies.
Renewable Energy Certificates
Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGCs)
LGCs are Large-scale Generation Certificates and are created by industrial scale renewable electricity generators such as solar and wind farms. As a consumer of electricity in Australia you pay a regulated cost for LGCs measured as a percentage of your energy use to meet the Federal government’s Renewable Energy Target. For 2026, the percentage is 16.67%.
LGCs can be negotiated alongside the cost of your electricity if you are a C&I consumer and procured in addition to your regulated requirements, to meet your own renewable energy targets.
Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs)
STCs are Small-scale Technology Certificates and are created through smaller renewable generation assets like rooftop solar but can also be created through upgraded water heaters and air source heat pumps. Just like LGCs, you are obliged to surrender STCs, via your retailer typically, measured as a percentage of your electricity consumption.
As of 2026, the percentage is 11.67%. STCs can also be negotiated as part of your retail agreement and apply to every consumer in Australia.
Energy Saving Certificates (ESCs - NSW only)
These certificates are created through the Energy Savings Scheme with the installation of energy saving equipment in homes and businesses. ESCs have a regulated minimum quantity of 10.5% of your energy use and apply only to NSW conaumers.
Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs -Vic only)
Like ESCs, VEECs are created through the installation of efficient equipment including lighting systems, refrigeration fans and cabinets and are a similar scheme for Victorian consumers only.
